COMMUTE FROM HILLAH TO BORSIPPA

The small team was on route to the historical sites a few files outside of Hillah. In a spur of the moment, Sayaf thought of no better way to disguise his foreign team members than with Birqas.

Do we seriously have to wear these? I feel over dressed and a bit restricted.” Maria complained in the back seat of the van. “How do women even wear this for long periods of time.”

Seraphina sat happily kicking her legs and flapping the long fabric. “I think they are fun and comfortable.”

It's only temporary.” Cyril tugged at the long fabric concealing his body. “And in case you didn't notice, I'm wearing them too.”

Why isn't Sayaf in one?” Maria scoffed and pointed at him. Her face could not be seen but Cyril couldn't definitely feel the expression she had.

Because I'm a Muslim man. I already blend in. Where as you, my friends, don't exactly look like you fit into this area. The Birqa is perfect for blending in as long as you keep quiet and nearby.”

Maria sighed. “Guess you have a point.”

I'm sure your long flowing blond hair and fashionable wardrobe would not have gone too far here.” Sayaf chuckled as he drove the van.

OK, I GET IT.” Maria crossed her arms angrily. “Who you talking to now?” She noticed Cyril was tapping away on his cell phone.

Cyril stopped tapping on his phone. “Me? I'm getting a hold of a contact to see if we can get some remote assistance for us.”

Maria sat back, looking very impatient. “What do you mean by that?”

Cyril tapped on a hard case that was by his legs. “I can't fly these bad boys all on my own.”

G-FUNK has joined the room

F-BOMB: Hey about time you signaled for me. I was expecting a postcard or souvenir or something

G-FUNK: Kinda been busy.

F-BOMB: figured. Hey I did manage to do a little digging while you were gone. Found some pretty interesting stuff in that space pod the kid was in.

G-FUNK: space pod?

F-BOMB: yeah lulz. That crazy chamber with the headset

G-FUNK: what about it

F-BOMB: I dissected it out of curiosity.

G-FUNK: seriously. It's just a hyperbaric chamber

F-BOMB: with some added features. Hear me out. Before I completely dismantled it, I rigged a kill switch to the headset and tried it out for about 30 minutes.

G-FUNK: ARE YOU NUTS!!!q09wefjmpadpugvaiu  Why would you do that?

F-BOMB: So here's what happened. Ready for this....

                  Nothing.

G-FUNK: nothing?

F-BOMB: exactly. No brain activity or anything. I was completely shut down for 30 minutes. No thought process or anything. It was like I pretty much traveled 30 minutes into the future.

G-FUNK: so a thought dampener. I think we need one for the kids sleeping.  crazy things happen when she sleeps

F-BOMB: Exactly. But that's not the crazy part. The headset design and its construction was a re-purpose. I had a few of my theorist buddies look into it and even confirmed the same thing. This was tech from the old MKULTRA days with some updates.

G-FUNK: I thought those were just psy ops and sleeper agent technologies. Like the Manchurian candidate and stuff

F-BOMB: That's what they wanted you to think. It's first purpose was the awakening and manipulation of locked mental abilities, pretty much trying to create the psychic phenomena and that was back in the 50s. It was fully scrapped by the 80s. so 30 plus years to tinker around with it.

F-BOMB: you'll never guess what replaced it

G-FUNK: idk

F-BOMB: the surrogate initiative. And thanks to DAVE and some heavy digging, it was the precursor to the animus project. That guy you killed, Dr. Alan Graham, he was one of the geneticists in the Surrogate program.

G-FUNK: no shit. So I hit a deep target

F-BOMB: YUP. And probably one of the last members of that program. The other members...they either joined the animus project or they've been hushed and completely vanished, making the Animus project first priority once they started using what the surrogate initiative started with reading of memories in the human genome.

G-FUNK: that was a nice unexpected history lesson lol

F-BOMB: Sorry. I get carried away with these revelations. But it explains the freaky abilities of the kids. The mkultra worked on them and their alien minds.

G-FUNK: That does make sense...i guess.

G-FUNK: Well now that you vented a bit, I need some help here in Borsippa. Think you can get a team to fly around some drones to scout the area.

F-BOMB: when you need them.

G-FUNK: yesterday

F-BOMB: FUCK...SERIOUSLY

G-FUNK: yeah. I'm in Iraq and I got a crap ton of paramilitary patrolling the area, as far as I can tell from satellite.

F-BOMB: oh so you aren't there yet

G-FUNK: no. on commute and in disguise. I'll be in that area soon enough

F-BOMB: i'll see who I can wrangle up. How many drone units you got

G-FUNK: 20. my favorite designs too btw

F-BOMB: AH...yeah I like those minis. I kinda broke mine trying some new stunts

G-FUNK: don't try funny stuff with these. It's gonna be our lifeline.

F-BOMB: roger that

F-BOMB: HEY YOU SAID YOU WERE HEADING TO BORSIPPA, RIGHT?

G-FUNK: yeah, to the ziggerat, why?

F-BOMB: I got some theories on that place.

G-FUNK: yeah I'm gonna stop you there

F-BOMB: NO YOU NEED TO HEAR THIS ONE

G-FUNK: what now

F-BOMB: that was were the tower of babel was

G-FUNK: already knew that

F-BOMB: oh really? Did you know when the tower fell, a good portion staked into the ground while the rest crumbled around it.

G-FUNK: ….WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

F-BOMB: I'm serious, look at the satellite image. Notice that nice vast area between the Ziggerat and that little mosque there?  here, i'll doodle it on for you

G-FUNK: yeah I see it. The shrine to the prophet Abraham

F-BOMB: underneath that area, you will find a series of tunnels and caves that lead to the remains of the tower of babel, and that shrine was a cover up to hide the entrance to the cave system

G-FUNK: ….

G-FUNK: yeah I'm done. Sounds like a good story though.

F-BOMB: WHAT IF I'M RIGHT.

G-FUNK: we'll see. Actually now that you mention it, that Abraham shrine might not be a bad place to set up a scout op. It's close yet far enough.

F-BOMB: that's a bit sacrilegious

G-FUNK: we got to do what we got to do.

F-BOMB: I guess.  let me send out a call to arms and see who we get.

G-FUNK: k.  counting on you

F-BOMB: roger that.  Peasus lol

Cyril tapped his head into his phone and sighed.

"What's wrong?"  Maria crossed her legs seeing his frustration.

"Nothing.  Fuze is too much sometimes."  Cyril started to look something up on his phone.  "He did have a good idea tho.  Hey Sayaf, you think we can scout out at the shrine of Abraham?"

"That's pretty far." Sayaf shouted back from the driver seat.

"No it's not.  it's right by the Ziggerat.  It says here it's the shrine of the prophet Abraham."  Cyril showed Sayaf the map layout.  "According to an article I read, it was where Abraham was born and hidden from Nimrod."

Sayaf raised a finger in the air.  "That's actually in Turkey.  I've been there.  That's just another shrine to Abraham."

"With an apparent cave.  I don't think these Birqas are fit for spelunking." Maria stretched the fabric out.

"Strange."  Sayaf pulled the van over to see what Cyril was talking about.  He reached for the phone to read the tourist article Cyril had up on his phone.  "There were 2 other places I know of that claimed that."

"Maybe Fuze was right about this site."  Cyril gestured a structure falling over.  "According to Fuze and other theorists, this is the site of the tower of Babel.  Fuze believes that shrine is a passage way to the top of the tower that's buried deep underground."

Maria exclaimed.  "And a system of caves and tunnels have been mentioned there.  That does make some sense."

"Hmm."  Sayaf scratched at the gruff on his chin.  "We'll check it out then if it means avoiding conflict."
